Fall Recreational

2021 FALL SEASON

PAGS-registration-fall

In our Fall Recreational league, the emphasis at all levels is on skill development, team play and having fun. During fall, which is off-season for softball, we expect lighter registration. As a result we will field 1-2 teams at the 8U, 10U, and 12U levels, depending on registration and coach availability. If we do not have enough coaches, girls will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

September and October — Sunday Games and No Practices:
The season is 7 weeks long, with games only, no practice other than perhaps extended warm up time. Games will be on Sunday during September and October.

Where are the games played?
Because registration in fall is light, our teams will travel to play other teams/leagues around the south bay. No games will be more than 30 minutes away. Games will be played at different fields between Palo Alto and Campbell.

What are the fees for Fall Recreational Season?
There is a nominal $95 to cover the cost of umpires, uniforms, and field rental.

How do I sign my daughter up?
Please use our Teamsnap registration page to register your daughter and pay your registration fees via your Paypal account or credit card.

How can I volunteer to coach?
Indicate that you are willing to coach on the online registration form. If you don’t have a daughter playing, contact registrar@paloaltogirlssoftball.org.

How are the teams and age groups organized?
Fall is a chance for girls to learn new skills to prepare for next spring. As a result, you will be organized on teams based on birth year that correspond to the same divisions your player will be playing in Spring 2017.

Division Birth Year Grades Pitching Catcher
8U 2009-2010 2nd/3rd (+ some older 1st) Coach and Player Beginning
10U 2007-2008 4th/5th (+ some older 3rd) Player (coach) Developing
12U 2005-2006 6th/7th (+ some older 5th) Player Only Important

As we are successful in developing young pitchers, we look forward to reducing (and eventually eliminating) the need for coach back up at the 10U level. These steps will, we believe, strengthen our teams at the 12U and 14U levels.

What equipment will the league provide, and what will my daughter need to provide?
PAGS provides the uniform jerseys, socks and visors plus batting helmets, bats, balls, catcher’s gear, bases and playing fields.
Players provide their own baseball/softball gloves and athletic shoes (baseball, softball, or soccer cleats are recommended, but not required). Sliding shorts (or pants) and a knee pad are required for 12U and 14U, and recommended for those 10U girls who want to give sliding a try. Batting gloves are optional. Some players may choose to purchase their own batting helmet and/or bat.

What are the basic rules of the game?
The rules differ by division. Choose the appropriate division from the menu on top of the page.
